In making the sidelines a hard boundary and a turnover, you're eliminating one of the most exciting plays in UItimate, the catch with the receiver 'toeing' the sideline to stay in.
Whomever you are, if you could in the future leave a handle so that I can reference your post I'd appreciate it, even if it's fictitious.
I'm not eliminating that play, it still exists but only in the endzones for a score.
Look, the whole sideline play where players are allowed to pivot OB and run OB after a catch are all legacies of Football. When you look at the entire game of Ultimate, in fact, there is almost nothing to do with football in the rules. There are no downs. There are no stop/start action like hikes, line of scrimmage, etc. There's no YAC (per se).
About the only thing similar in the games is the endzone which is proportionately 4 times bigger than a football endzone.
Out of bounds should mean just that, OUT OF BOUNDS.
I am a youth player. I just learned to play 2 years ago. I play many other sports, like basketball and soccer, with hard defined rules. Honestly, my favorite part about Ultimate is that there is none of that. No referees, just discussion. And rules that help out, obviously. I personally don't know the rules well enough to discuss the nuts and bolts of your proposed changes, but I don't agree with the general idea. Spirit of the Game is what makes the game so unique. And so fun for all the youth players I've ever met, especially those who play other sports. I think that if you take that away, you destroy the game.
Thank you for trying to address the problems as you see them, but I cannot agree with you.

McKane,
Can I ask you, when you play soccer and basketball, what level of competitor are you?
